Method for purification of waste water from sulphide and / or mercaptide sulfur includes their oxidation with air oxygen in the presence of a heterogeneous oxidation catalyst for sulfur compounds on a polymeric carrier. Oxidation of sulphide and / or mercaptid sulfur in effluents is carried out in the presence of a hydrocarbon solvent, which is gasoline and / or kerosene and / or diesel fractions or mixtures based on them. Highly active heterogeneous catalyst for the oxidation of sulfur compounds of KSM-X is used as a catalyst. Oxidation is carried out at a volume ratio of the hydrocarbon fraction to the effluent 1:(1÷10), preferably 1:2, at a temperature of 20 to 80 °C, an excess air pressure of 0.1 to 1.0 MPa, with a pH of oxidized wastewater below 9. Wastewater treatment plant for sulphide and / or mercaptide sulfur includes a waste water heater 1, an oxidation reactor 3 in the form of a column filled with a KCM-X catalyst and equipped with a dispersant, a waste air separator 4, a settler 5, a pump 7 for feeding the hydrocarbon fraction to the oxidation reactor 3, a storage tank 6 for the hydrocarbon fraction, a compressor 2 for supplying air to the oxidation reactor 3.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to accelerate the oxidation reactions of sulphide and / or mercaptid sulfur in effluents and increase the depth of purification of effluents from toxic sulphides and mercaptides, eliminate the release of elemental sulfur in neutralizing effluents with a pH below 9.
