FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a catalyst for liquid-phase oxidation of sodium sulfide in an aqueous medium and can be used in gas, oil refining, petroleum, chemical, leather, and other industries in the disposal of waste water containing inorganic sulfides. The catalyst is a hydrocarbon solution of spatial-substituted stilbenquinone (1) and/or diphenoquinone (2) when the volume ratio of hydrocarbon solution of the catalyst to the oxidizable aqueous medium with sulfide compounds is preferably 1:(2-3). Herewith diesel and/or kerosene, and/or diesel fraction is used as a hydrocarbon solvent, with the following content of components, wt %: spatial-substituted stilbenquinone and/or diphenoquinone: 1÷25.0; hydrocarbon solvent - the rest , , where R1-4 is tert-butyl.
EFFECT: catalyst has a longer service life and does not pollute the oxidized wastewater.
