In the method, the device for protecting the drainage structure from sediment contains trays, the bottom of which has a drop between the trays, they are separated by a wall in which the holes are made. This device is made in the form of a well with a discharge pipe installed below the bottom of the trays. Also, the well is provided with a flat protective water permeable grate placed on the level of the bottom of the inlet and outlet trays. In the center of the flat protective water-permeable grating, an aperture overlapped from above by a flow divider with a concave sidewall of the fairings attached to a dome-shaped metal grid is formed, and the lower ends attach to a flat protective water-permeable grate with a pointed sharp end towards the feeder tray.
