SUBSTANCE: disclosed invention relates to the internal combustion engines, namely to the engines incorporating powered by batteries electrical starting systems. Internal combustion engine contains the cylinders block comprising cylinder, piston located inside the cylinder, at that, the piston is configured to reciprocate in the cylinder along the cylinder axis, crankshaft configured to be driven by the piston, wherein the crankshaft is the horizontal crankshaft, fuel system for the air-fuel mixture supply to the cylinder and electric starter system comprising the starter electric motor, storage battery receptacle and lithium ion battery, which is removably attached in the storage battery receptacle, wherein the lithium-ion storage battery is configured to supply the starter motor with electric power for the engine starting, at that the lithium-ion storage battery comprises at least one lithium ion cell having the cell axis, and the storage battery receptacle is arranged so, that with the lithium-ion battery connection, the cylinder axis and the cell longitudinal axis are not parallel to each other.

EFFECT: technical result consists in the fuel consumption reduction and noise elimination.
