FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a system for dry granulation of slag using waste heat and a method for controlling the supply of cooling gas to a dry granulation system. System comprises a rotary spray granulator, a slag receiver for holding a slag layer that is formed when the slag particles are ejected from the granulator, a height sensor and a temperature sensor for determining the height and temperature of the slag layer in the zones and a controller for selectively controlling the supply of cooling gas to the cooling inputs to cool the slag layer in the respective zones. At that the slag receiver comprises several cooling inputs for cooling the respective zones of the slag layer, and each cooling inlet is positioned to cool the corresponding slag zone. And the selective control of the cooling gas flow provides a greater amount of cooling gas in the areas of the slag layer with a higher density of thermal energy, and a smaller amount of cooling gas in the zones of the slag layer having a lower density of thermal energy, to optimize the use of the cooling gas.
EFFECT: system for dry granulation of slag is proposed.
