FIELD: power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrochemistry, including green energy, and can be used in transport energy systems and in space. Electrochemical hydrogen compressor includes strong body with inlet and outlet connecting legs. Package of electrically secured membrane electrode assemblies consists of proton-conducting membrane installed between flat gas-permeable cathode and anode contacting with the membrane surface. Assemblies are located inside the body and divide it into pneumatically isolated cavities, in each of which, except for extreme ones, contains cathode and anode of two adjacent blocks separated by gas-permeable insulators. Anodes and cathodes of all membrane-electrode assemblies are connected to corresponding common power supply buses of compressor. Anodes are connected directly, cathodes – via switches. Pneumatically insulated cavities of the body are connected by pneumatic crossover pipes with safety relief electropneumatic valves installed on them, which are connected in series to the electrical circuit of corresponding membrane electrode assemblies. Disconnecting of current in each of them leads to opening of its electropneumatic valve, and vice versa, opening of electropneumatic valve opens electrical circuit of the assembly.
EFFECT: reliability and safety that allows to use compressor in autonomous terrestrial power plants and in space are increased.
