FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: activation of membrane electrode assembly (MEA) is carried out by delivery of humidified hydrogen to the first electrode and humidified oxygen to the second electrode in at least one cyclical voltage variation at MEA within range from idle value up to 0 V at room temperature. Then activation is continued by delivery of humidified hydrogen to the second electrode and humidified oxygen to the first electrode in at least one cyclical voltage variation at MEA within range from idle value up to 0 V.
EFFECT: increase of maximum specific power for air calls based on polymer membranes is the result of suggested invention.
