FIELD: nuclear physics, nuclear technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device to irradiate materials in the core or at the periphery of the core of a nuclear reactor and a method for use thereof. Device comprises a double wall containment delimiting a chamber and a receptacle contained in said chamber. Said receptacle is held at a distance from an inside wall of the containment and is designed to contain a coolant. Sample holder is placed in said receptacle. Inside of the receptacle is in hydraulic communication with the outside of the receptacle, and the volume between the inside wall of the containment and the receptacle is designed to be filled with a gas or a mixture of gases called the coolant cushion gas.
EFFECT: technical result is the creation of a device for irradiating samples in a reactor, in which samples can be heated to high temperatures while maintaining the mechanical strength of the assembly, ensuring compliance with safety requirements.
