FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a rolling mill and can be used for hot rolling of thick strips in hot rolling mill stands with individual roll drive. Method includes compressing the metal at different speeds of the rollers. Increasing the flexibility in adjusting the bending direction of the forward end of the bale and avoiding excessive bending of the upstream end of the bale up at the exit of the stand is ensured by the fact that the misalignment of the speeds of the upper and lower rollers is set for the two rolling zones of the front end of the rolling. In the first zone, before the metal entering the rolls, the speed of the lower roll exceeds the speed of the upper roll, and during the rolling of the front end of the rolling in this zone with a predetermined length, but no more than 2–5 thickness of the rolling, reduce the amount of this excess up to negative values, but more than -15 %, and then, during the next second zone, also with a specified length, but no more than 2–5 thickness, equalize the linear speeds of the rolls.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to reduce the number of jams and breakdowns of mill equipment due to uncontrolled bending of the roll at the exit from the stands up or down.
