FIELD: rolled stock production, namely rough rolling stands of wide-strip and thick-sheet hot rolling mills. SUBSTANCE: method for tuning guide system of four-high rolling stand comprises steps of mounting lower backup roll and lower rolling roll to preset level in entry and exit controlled-height movable guides having sharpened end at side of roll, tapered at opposite side and mounted in chocks of lower rolling roll; mounting entry movable guide in level of stationary entry and exit guides secured to housings at sides of metal inlet to stand and metal outlet from stand; stationary mounting lower backup roll for the whole operation period until next roll change in such a way that to arrange upper generatrix of lower rolling roll relative to nominal rolling level in range of identical maximum fluctuations upwards and downwards equal to difference of minimum and maximum diameters of rolling roll; mounting exit movable guide at displacing it by angle relative to vertical line in level providing arrangement of leading end of rolled piece (after it passes back tapered portion of exit movable guide) in mean portion of stationary exit guide. EFFECT: lowered number of rejected rolled pieces and unfinished sections, less loss of yield, reduced out-of-schedule idling periods of mill, breakage and wear of rolls, enhanced efficiency of mill. 3 dwg
