FIELD: motor vehicle industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technical operation of cars, namely to the technology of determining the factor of side friction of an elastic tire of a car wheel with a road surface under operating conditions. To increase the accuracy, reliability and safety of the measurement of lateral and total longitudinal reactions in the contact patches of the elastic tires of the left and right car wheels with a road surface, a system of two car wheels with elastic tires with a given angle of lateral drift is installed on a measuring road section. Selection of cargoes is performed to set the necessary values of masses and normal loads on the left and right wheels. Towing of the system of wheels with a given longitudinal speed provides rolling of wheel tires with power lateral drift. Further, simultaneous measurement of the lateral reactions by force-measuring sensors and the total longitudinal reaction is carried out. Values of the side friction factor for the tires of the left and right wheels are calculated by formula.
EFFECT: technical result consists in increasing the accuracy, reliability and safety of the measurement of lateral and total longitudinal reactions in the contact patches of the elastic tires of two car wheels with a road surface.
