FIELD: mechanical engineering; systems providing stability of movement and effective braking of automobiles, aircraft and other vehicles, reduced fuel consumption and enhanced traction characteristics of tractors and other cross-country vehicles. SUBSTANCE: control operations of slave mechanisms are started at negative signs of derivatives of wheel side reactions, brake torque realized actually by wheels and arising in points of contacts of vehicle wheel with support surface, and/or hook forces, and are finished at zero or positive signs of derivatives of wheel side reactions, brake torque actually realized by wheels and/or hook forces. Proposed method, as compared with prototype, provides quality control of travelling and braking conditions, smooth control by brake torque at maximum utilization of wheel-to-support surface adhesion coefficients. EFFECT: reduced fuel consumption enhanced tractive characteristics of vehicle, provision of smooth running, enlarged operating capabilities and accuracy of motion duty control. 5 cl, 11 dwg
