METHOD OF ENGINE TECHNICAL CONDITION DIAGNOSTICS Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC G01M15/04 G01F9/00

Abstract RU 2662017 C2

FIELD: motors and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of technical diagnostics in the process of operating an internal combustion engine based on fuel consumption at idle and the level of mechanical losses. When the engine is idling, diagnostics is carried out in two stages, where at the first stage the constant monitoring of fuel consumption at idle and comparison with the reference values, is carried out without affecting the operation of the engine. When the fuel consumption exceeds the tolerance range, the monitoring system sends a signal to the electronic control unit and it starts the second stage of the diagnostics. Changes in mechanical losses for a given fuel consumption deviation are calculated and the rundown process is activated. Obtained values of mechanical losses from the second stage are compared with the values for the calculated change in fuel consumption and, based on the results of the comparison, the technical state of each of the components of the engine as a whole is judged.

EFFECT: invention will allow to diagnose the technical condition of the engine during operation, to keep the engine in a technically sound condition, to increase the informative value of diagnostics of the technical condition of the engine for the subsequent preventive maintenance and repair.
