FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to precursor of the perfume substance 3-(4-isobutyl-2-methylphenyl)propanal. Precursor comprises at least an enamine and/or an amine in the form of a reaction product of 3-(4-isobutyl-2-methylphenyl)propanal (a compound of formula (I)) and a primary and/or secondary amine. Invention relates to use of a precursor of a perfume substance as a perfume ingredient. Invention relates to perfume composition comprising the aforementioned perfume precursor. Invention relates to composition of personal care products or home care products containing at least a precursor of a perfume substance or a perfume composition. Invention relates to method for imparting a flavor characteristic of a lily of the valley perfume composition which comprises the step of adding to the said composition at least a precursor of the perfume substance. .
EFFECT: invention allows continuous release of 3-(4-isobutyl-2-methylphenyl)propanal over time, provides its long-term release, increases the stability of the above compound in consumer products.
