SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing a compound of formula (I)
comprising a step of regioselective introduction of a functional group into a dialkylbenzole compound
in which the ratio of a compound containing a ratio of a compound containing a functional group in position (a), to the compound containing a functional group in position (b) is at least 70:30, and in which the substituent R is an isobutyl group.
EFFECT: disclosed is a method of producing 3-(4-isobutyl-2-methylphenyl)propanal used in the perfume industry.
