FIELD: oil and gas industry.

SUBSTANCE: this invention relates to the compounds separation process produced from the lignin derivatization from pyrolysis oil. Described is the pyrolysis oil processing method, including: (a) production of pyrolysis oil; (b) bringing the said pyrolysis oil into contact with at least one α-hydroxy sulfonic acid under conditions effective to perform the pyrolysis oil phases separation into the water soluble phase containing sugars, organic acids and carbonyl compounds, and the water-insoluble phase containing lignin and phenolic compounds; (c) water-insoluble phase separation from the water-soluble phase; and (d) α-hydroxysulfonic acid removal in the form of its compound from the water-soluble phase by heating and / or the pressure lowering in order to produce the water-soluble phase with the acid removed therefrom, substantially not containing the α-hydroxysulfonic acid. Also described are pyrolysis oil processing methods.

EFFECT: technical result: developed is the effective technological process for the light oxidation products separation from compounds produced by the lignin derivatization.
