FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to vehicle brakes. Drum brake comprises first and second brake pads having first end pivotally connected to brake spider. First and second cam followers are located at respective second ends of brake pads. Cam engages cam follower with movement of cam causing brake pads to move between engagement and disengagement positions with brake surface. Cam followers are biased in such a way that center of first cam follower is located at first distance from brake center axis, and center of second cam follower is located at second distance from central axis, while first distance is different from second distance in order to improve direction of cam force vector.
EFFECT: improvement in direction of braking forces is achieved to reduce mechanical stress, increase in efficiency and increase in thickness of brake linings.
