SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of biochemistry, in particular to the use of mutant tomato with impaired maturation, which is the carrier of the ripening inhibitor (rin) gene, or a fetus or part thereof in a method for preventing weight gain and/or inhibiting, preventing or reducing the severity of a disease condition associated with adipogenesis. Also an antiadipogen agent is disclosed comprising the above tomato plant or its fruit, or a portion, and also a process for its production. Invention also relates to a composition for preventing weight gain and/or for treating obesity-related pathological conditions comprising an effective amount of a tomato plant with impaired maturation or its fetus, or a part or an extract thereof, as well as to a method for inducing a reduction in body weight and/or preventing an increase in body weight of a subject using the aforementioned tomato plant or fruit or part thereof.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to effectively induce a reduction in body weight and / or prevent an increase in the body weight of the subject.
