FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to monitoring battery health. Essence: battery system comprises a plurality of battery units and a controller coupled to a plurality of battery units. Controller is configured to track for each battery pack a first voltage and a second voltage. In this case, the first voltage corresponds to the absolute value of the trip voltage, and the second voltage corresponds to the warning voltage, the first voltage being less than the second voltage. Controller is configured, in response to the achievement by one of the battery packs of the second voltage, to provide a first warning signal before either of the battery banks reaches the first voltage. Controller is also configured to cause a load reduction command in response to said first warning signal. Moreover, if the load reduction does not lead to the termination of the said warning signal, the controller is configured to monitor the health of the battery system. If the battery system voltage is not reached, the controller refrains from sending a second warning signal. Otherwise, the controller is configured to supply said second warning signal.
EFFECT: proposed invention determines the serviceability of the battery without turning it off without warning.
