SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an aqueous coating compositions including a substituted succinimide compound, wherein the substituted succinimide compound has an acidity value of 30 to 300 mg KOH/g of the substituted succinimide compound. Said substituted succinimide compound is a reaction product of an unsaturated oil containing at least one non-aromatic unsaturated carbon-carbon bond, a polymer derived from an unsaturated oil, and a combination thereof, maleic anhydride and a compound of general NH₂RCOOH formula in which R can be an alkyl or aryl group with 2 to 30 carbon atoms and in which the amino group is separated from the acid group by more than one carbon atom. Also, the substrate and process for preparing an aqueous coating composition are described.

EFFECT: technical result is the provision of coatings resistant to delamination, as well as improved adhesion and corrosion resistance on metal substrates.
