FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the production of magnetic oils based on highly dispersed magnetite. Invention can be used in mechanical engineering, instrument making, in medicine, etc. Method for obtaining magnetic oils includes the production of magnetite nanoparticles, their stabilization with a surfactant, followed by the addition of a carrier fluid. According to the invention, the surfactant and the carrier fluid are selected from the following condition – E=|εp-εr|/εp, where E is the criterial parameter, εp – the dielectric constant of the surfactant, εr – the dielectric constant of the carrier fluid, the criterion parameter E is from 0 to 0.2.
EFFECT: increased colloidal stability and provided stable magnetization of the magnetic oil, which provides a stable coefficient of friction and wear resistance for a long time when using magnetic oil in tribocoupling and, as a result, an increase in the operating life of the friction unit.
