FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means for protecting liquid propellant engines from thermal effects. Method of protecting the fire walls of the combustion chamber and the nozzle of the liquid rocket engine is based on the creation of a protective curtain in the flow of combustion products of the engine from dispersed particles of intercalated graphite having the property of significant volumetric thermal expansion. Protective curtain is formed by introducing dispersed particles into one of the fuel components and then feeding them together with the fuel into the combustion chamber. In the combustion chamber and nozzle of the engine, the particles are heated by a high-temperature flow of combustion products to a temperature of their full or partial irreversible expansion and create from them in the flow of combustion products a protective curtain, which weakens external thermal effects.
EFFECT: invention provides an increase in the level of protection of the combustion chamber walls and the engine nozzle.
