SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of video surveillance and processing of video data, in particular, to emulation of several non-rotating video cameras with one PTZ camera. Method for emulating at least two stationary virtual video cameras using a single PTZ camera is proposed, wherein the number of stationary cameras is equal to the number of presets of the PTZ video camera, comprising the steps of storing data, coming from the PTZ camera as the original stream, presets for the PTZ video camera are set, it is determined that at the zero time point the PTZ camera is in the first preset, in which the video camera captures at least one image, data stream, received from the first virtual video camera, is emulated with the data received from the PTZ camera in the first preset, displaying the original video stream in the first preset as data stream from the first virtual camera, image processing algorithm specified for the first virtual camera is applied to the video stream resulting from the emulation, time of the PTZ camera transition from the first preset to the second is registered, second virtual video camera is emulated with the PTZ video camera in the second preset, displaying the data stream, coming from the PTZ camera in the second preset, as the data stream, coming from the second virtual video camera, the image processing algorithm specified for the second virtual camera is applied to the video stream resulting from the emulation.

EFFECT: technical result is the simplification of the algorithms for analyzing the video coming from the PTZ camera.
