SUBSTANCE: group of inventions belongs to the field of veterinary medicine and can be used in the development of drugs designed to oppress sexual hunting in small domestic animals, mainly in cats and dogs. Means for suppressing sexual hunting in cats and dogs, comprising a proligestone (PLG), and presented in the form of an injection solution, is disclosed that is characterized in that it comprises, as the active principle, a combination of a proligestone with an estrogen (E) at a weight ratio PLG/E of 10–100:1, where PLG is presented in a concentration that provides its effective dose in conditions of a single application of the drug. Also, the use of a means for inhibiting sexual hunting in cats and dogs in the form of a single injection containing an effective dose of a proligestone corresponding to 0.2–5 mg/kg of an animal's weight has been claimed.

EFFECT: group of inventions provides the possibility of creating contraceptive hormonal preparations of prolonged action safe for the animal's organism, the safety of which is determined by the properties of the proligestone and a significant reduction in effective doses in comparison with the corresponding monohormonal preparation achieved by combining the proligestone with estrogen.
