SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the distributed protection system for segmented power network on the electrified railway. Electric traction network overhead catenary system is divided into several segments corresponding to the railway running lines, at that, overhead catenary system running line separators and sub-running line posts between the segments are added. Sub-running line posts contain: circuit-breaker, current transformer, voltage transformer and the measurement and control unit. Circuit-breaker and current transformer are in-series interconnected. Circuit-breaker and current transformer are in-parallel connected to the running line overhead catenary system separator. Running line overhead catenary system separator in the traction network is cascade installed. In the normal mode the circuit-breaker is in the “switched on” state. Voltage transformer is in-parallel connected to the overhead catenary system. In each sub-running line station, the voltage transformers have the same type and transformation ratio, and current transformers also have the same type and transformation ratio. In the running line post the voltage transformer secondary winding and the current transformer secondary winding are connected to the measuring and control unit input terminals, as well as the current transformer secondary winding in the nearest left running line post and the current transformer secondary winding at the nearest right sub-running line post. Measuring and control unit outputs are connected to the circuit-breaker control unit in the sub-running line post. Each measurement and control unit is connected to the traction substations or the control center via the communication network. Measurement and control unit determines, whether there is a fault in the form of a short circuit in the overhead catenary system in the segment between the running line post and the nearest left or near right running line post. Measurement and control unit sends a signal to the circuit-breaker control contacts in the running line post to turn off the circuit breaker if there is a fault in the form of a short circuit, otherwise the circuit-breaker remains in the “switched on” state.
EFFECT: enabling damages in the traction network recognition, isolation and elimination.
