FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for producing sorbent matrix materials for immobilizing radionuclides of alkaline-earth and rare earth elements from spent nuclear fuel. Method for obtaining material based on a natural zeolite for immobilizing radionuclides is as follows. Aqueous suspension of zeolite-containing rocks is heated in a water bath, subjected to sonication at a conversion frequency of 20±2 kHz for 30–60 minutes, the precipitate is separated off, dried, steamed over boiling water for 30–90 minutes and re-dried.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase the total sorption capacity of the sorbent material and to reduce the rate of leaching of radionuclides from it.
