FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of producing sorbents for immobilisation of radionuclides of alkali-earth and rare-earth elements from spent nuclear fuel. Method for targeted treatment of natural zeolite for the purpose of producing a sorbent involves stepwise treatment of a natural mineral sorbent - zeolite. At the first stage, the sorbent is mechanically activated, and then treated with a solution of a dealuminating chemical reagent in ratio sorbent: solution as 1:5, separation of solution by centrifugation, drying of obtained precipitate and classification of obtained sorbent. Mechanical activation is carried out by processing a natural mineral sorbent on a ball mill for 1–5 minutes. Dealuminating chemical solution used is 5 % hydrochloric acid solution or 5 % acetic acid solution or 2 % disodium salt of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid solution. Said residue is dried and sorbent is classified simultaneously in drying crushing unit.
EFFECT: increased total sorption capacity of the obtained sorbent and reduced rate of leaching of cations of radionuclides of alkali-earth and rare-earth elements with reduction of power inputs during sorbent production.
