FIELD: ecology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of ecology and nature management and can be used for soil clean-up in the territories of urbanized and industrial agglomerations, as well as agricultural soils, in order to reduce the content of toxic concentrations of heavy metals in them resulting from human economic activities. Phytoremediation method for cleaning soils contaminated with heavy metals includes the use of wild plants as phytoremediants, which are sown, brought to the stage of the vegetation period and mowed, includes a choice in the area to be cleaned, area of at least 100 m2, the determination of the concentrations of heavy metals in the soil of this area , the release of naturally growing and dominant plant species on it, determination in their roots and aboveground parts of the accumulating capacity for heavy metal concentrations and their transport coefficients in the system "soil – roots – aboveground part of plants", selection on the basis of these indicators of indicator plant species characterized by the highest rates of heavy metals accumulation and the maximum values of the coefficients of their transfer to the aboveground parts of plants, for their further intensive distribution with the aim of phytoremediation treatment of contaminated territory. Plants are planted in the spring in the area to be cleaned, brought to the stage of the vegetation period, and green mass is mowed and collected. This procedure is repeated periodically as the aboveground part of the plants grows.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to reduce labor costs and improve the efficiency of the phytoremediation method for cleaning contaminated soils through increasing the amount of heavy metals recovered from them by sowing wild plant species typical of a given local region and possessing maximum extraction and removal rates of polluting metals in the aboveground mass of plants to be collected and disposed.
