SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an improved process for catalytic dehydrogenation. Described is a method for catalytic dehydrogenation, which comprises contacting an alkane or alkyl aromatic feedstock with a dehydrogenation catalyst containing gallium and platinum supported on a carrier, under catalytic conditions in an up-flow and fluidised bed reactor, wherein the fluidised bed reactor includes one or more reactors selected from the group consisting of fluidised bed reactors, turbulent bed reactors, fast fluidisation reactors and riser reactors, where the catalytic conditions include a temperature within the range of 500 °C to 800 °C, hourly space velocity in the range of 0.1 to 1000 h-1, gas residence time within the range of 0.1 to 10 seconds, and subsequent to the fluidised bed reactor, effecting separation of entrained catalyst from reactor effluent by use of a cyclonic separation system, wherein the improvement comprises cooling the entrained catalyst and the stream leaving the reactor, which occurs prior to the separation of the entrained catalyst from the stream leaving the reactor, where the cooling of the entrained catalyst and the stream leaving the reactor substantially stops the thermal reactions, and thus effectively increasing the overall molecular selectivity of the alkene product.
EFFECT: technical result is an increase in the overall selectivity of the reaction to the corresponding olefin using rapid cooling means.
