FIELD: instrument engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the method and reactor for metalating bulky blanks in the high-temperature reactor for volumetric metalating plant with the vapor-liquid phase, the alternative liquid-phase and using the combined methods. Method comprises treatment of the reactor in the cold state and in case of heating during the metalation process. Moreover, during the metalation process, a separate vacuum treatment of the heat-insulating material, which is located in the sealed chambers, is carried out, the chambers are formed by hermetically sealed roof lining elements, body and bottom of the reactor and the reactor elements themselves, and working reactor space, and after the completion of the metalation process, until the next time when it is carried out, the preservation of the thermal insulation material is carried out by means of creating the inert gas with the excess pressure of 0.025–0.03 atm in the sealed atmospheric chambers, by means of supplying an inert gas to the sealed chambers at the same time as supplying air to the working volume of the reactor and maintaining the pressure close to the pressure in the chambers and working volume of the reactor until the atmospheric pressure is created in them, with the subsequent creation of overpressure in the sealed chambers. Reactor is also described, in which the lining of the body, cover and bottom of the reactor of the unit for metalation of the blanks is made of carbon powder and/or fibrous filler of low thermal conductivity, which is located in the containers formed by shells and/or bowls made of composite material based on carbon or on carbon-carbide metal matrix such as C-SiC, C-TiC, and the corresponding reactor body parts and by the corresponding reactor body parts. Lining is made of two groups of shells and bowls, which form the chambers with the corresponding reactor body parts in order to accommodate containers filled with heat-insulating material in them. Also the method of making the carbon-containing lining of the mentioned reactor is described.

EFFECT: volumetric character of metalation of bulky blanks by carbide-forming metals is ensured.
