SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the encoder performed vector quantization (VQ). Pyramidal vector quantizer, PVQ, shape searching method, at that, the PVQ takes the target vector x as the input and outputs the vector y by the single pulses iterative addition in the internal search cycle by dimensions. Determination of the current vector y, before entering the next internal search cycle by dimension for the single pulse addition, based on the pulse maximum amplitude, maxampy, whether larger than the word current bit length is necessary to represent enloopy, by the method without losses in the oncoming inner cycle by dimensions. Variable enloopy relates to the vector y accumulated energy.
EFFECT: technical result of the invention is in the encoder ability to keep the search complexity at the reasonable level, enabling the encoder to apply the increased accuracy cycle only, when it may be necessary, by analyzing whether in the upcoming internal cycle an inner cycle is required with higher accuracy than the currently used accuracy.
