FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the electric power industry and can be used to locate faults in double earth faults on a single transmission line of a 6–35 kV distribution network with small earth fault currents. Method consists in measuring the active and reactive component of the phase current and voltage in the emergency mode and then calculating the inductive resistance up to each fault location proportional to the distance to the fault sites. In calculating the inductive resistance, additional relative inductive resistances of mutual phase induction are taken into account.
EFFECT: increased accuracy due to additional consideration of mutual inductive resistances.
