FIELD: data processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the processing of audio signals, in particular to audio processing of mono or dual mono signals. Device for improving the audio signal comprises a signal processor for processing an audio signal in order to reduce or remove the transients and tonal portions of the processed signal, and a decorrelator for generating a first decorrelated signal and a second decorrelated signal from the processed signal. Device further comprises a combiner for weighted combining of the first and second decorrelated signals and the audio signal or signal obtained from the audio signal by improving coherence, using time-varying weighting coefficients and for obtaining a two-channel audio signal. Device further comprises a controller for controlling time-varying weighting factors by analyzing the audio signal such that the various portions of the audio signal are multiplied by different weight coefficients, and the two-channel audio signal has a time-varying degree of de-correlation.
EFFECT: improving the sound quality of audio signals.
