FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the chemistry of macromolecular compounds, and in particular to the homopolymerization of cyclic hydrocarbons. Method for the preparation of a two-component system for the preparation of polydicyclopentadiene (poly-DCPD) based on dicyclopentadiene (DCPD) isolated from the C-5 fraction of pyrolysis by the dimerization of the cyclopentadiene (CPD) contained therein is described. Two-component system consists of component A containing DCPD, an activator is an organoaluminum compound, a moderator is a simple or ester and an elastomer and a B component containing DCPD, a tungsten-based catalyst complex, and an elastomer. DCPD is further treated by heating to 145–170 °C, stripping the fraction boiling within the range 39–42 °C, and then heating this fraction to 80–120 °C and vacuum fraction distillation at 40–70 °C.
EFFECT: decrease in the consumption of tungsten-containing catalyst and increase of such strength parameters obtained on the basis of components A and B of poly-DCPD, such as tensile strength, bending strength and Rockwell hardness.
