FIELD: petrochemistry. SUBSTANCE: dicyclopentadiene is prepared by thermal dimerization of cyclopentadiene contained in hydrocarbon fractions, namely products of refined stock of petroleum and coal-tar chemical industry origin followed by separation of dicyclopentadiene by rectification. Rectification is carried out in the presence of mixture of tert-butyl substituted phenols which comprises, wt. %: 2,4-di- tertbutylphenol 5.0-30.0; 2,4,6-tri-tert-butylphenol, 60.0-70.0; 3,3,5,5- tetrabutyl diphenoxynone, 10.0-25.0. Weight ratio of mixture of tert- butylsubstituted phenols to mixture of dicyclopentadiene and cyclopentadiene in dimerizate is 0.05-0.25: 1.
