FIELD: nuclear energy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a composition and a method for manufacturing a sacrificial ceramic material for a device for localizing a melt of a nuclear reactor of a water-to-water type in case of its severe accident with the release of molten masses from the reactor vessel. To obtain the sacrificial ceramic material an initial raw charge is produced, containing components: iron oxide 50–70 wt %, alumina 30–50 wt %, cadolinium oxide up to 0.2 wt %, and a manganese salt 2–10 wt %.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to reduce energy costs for obtaining ceramic sacrificial material of the required quality.
