FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a process for the preparation of polyurethane, to polyurethane, as well as the use of polyurethane for the manufacture of structural components of vehicle bodies. Said process comprises mixing the components of a reaction mixture to form polyurethane. Components of the reaction mixture include (a) a polyisocyanate, (b) a mixture obtained by the addition of an alkali metal or alkali-earth metal salt to at least one urethane group-containing compound R-NH-CO-R', in which R is not hydrogen or COR", (c) a compound containing one or more epoxy groups, and optionally (d) a polyol, (e) a chain extender and (f) fillers and other additives. Content of alkali or alkali-earth metal ions per urethane group in compound (b) ranges from 0.0001 to 3.5.
EFFECT: polyurethane system produced by this method has a long open time, cures within a few minutes, and has higher catalysis efficiency.
