METHOD OF SEPARATION OF GALLIUM AND ALUMINUM ON WEAK-BASE ANION EXCHANGER D-403 FROM ALKALINE SOLUTIONS Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC C22B58/00 C22B3/24

Abstract RU 2667592 C1

FIELD: metallurgy; technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of hydrometallurgy of rare metals, namely to methods for separating gallium and aluminum in the form of anionic hydroxocomplexes from alkaline solutions involving ion exchange resins. Method consists in conducting a sorption process for the extraction of gallium from alkaline aluminate solutions containing 50–55 g/l Na2O, from 0.06 to 10.97 g/L gallium and aluminum 8.2 g/L in the presence of chromium and vanadium with a concentration of 1.38 g/l and 2.57 g/l, respectively. Process is carried out at a ratio of solid and liquid phases of 1:30 on a macroporous chelate anion exchange resin D-403 with stirring at a shaking rate of at least 50 qty/min for not more than 1.5 hours at room temperature. Desorption is carried out with a solution of sulfuric acid of 1 mol/l concentration.

EFFECT: separation of gallium from aluminum up to a mole ratio of components of 1:150 and reaching a capacitance value of more than 27 grams of gallium per 1 kg of ion-exchange resin, which increases the productivity of the process.
