FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy of rare metals, specifically to methods of extracting gallium from alkali gallium-containing solutions, including circulating solutions of alumina production. Gallate solution is obtained from an alkaline gallium-containing solution. Gallium is sorbed from recycled ion-exchange solution based on divinylbenzene polymer, desorption of gallium with sulfuric acid solution to obtain gallium-containing eluate, further concentration of gallium by conversion thereof into a solid phase by neutralization of the eluate with a caustic solution with precipitation of a gallium hydroxide deposit at a given temperature. Condensation and filtration of precipitate are carried out with further dissolution thereof in caustic solution until preset concentration of gallium in solution is obtained.

EFFECT: method increases concentration of gallium by converting it into a solid phase during neutralization of acidic eluates with an alkaline solution, which simplifies the process of concentration and reduces the number of process operations and, as a result, reduces the cost of production of gallium.
