FIELD: automotive industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the automotive industry. Device and method are intended for inserting spike studs into stud holes for studs provided in tire tread portion. Insertion device comprises profile measurement module, first profile measuring device that measures profile of tire tread portion; module for identification of hole positions, which, on basis of measured profile, identifies positions of mounting holes for spike studs in circumferential direction of tire and in transverse direction of tire; and installation module that inserts spike studs into stud holes for studs, locations of which are identified.
EFFECT: technical result is automation of tire studding.
