FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method includes applying an electric spark discharge to a surface, wherein the surface is exposed to a gas and the material is subjected to at least partial melting and/or partial ablation by a spark discharge to form a pattern at object (18). Spark discharge is used in the form of two successive phases, the first of which provides the formation of a conductive channel, and in the second phase a current is introduced into the conductive channel for partial melting and/or partial ablation of the material. Pattern produced on the object includes a random-shaped crater or a random distribution of random-shaped craters and re-deposited droplets of said material. Invention also relates to marking system (10) for marking object (18) with spark generator (12) having counter electrode (14) and connector (16), and to a system for authenticating marked object (18).
EFFECT: invention relates to marking an object having a surface of a conductive material, which enables to obtain a mark that is practically impossible to reproduce, copy, or forge.
