FIELD: measurement; testing.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to an apparatus and method for sampling a liquid, preferably for a fuel intended for an internal combustion engine (2). Sampling unit (100) comprises wall section (104) partly surrounding cavity (101), which can receive a liquid sample, and opening (103) through which the liquid in the cavity may flow out of cavity (101), and liquid in the system can flow into cavity (101) through said opening (103). Opening (103) is equipped with channel (120) whose volume is based on a change in the volume of liquid caused by temperature change, and this channel (120) is arranged to be in contact with the liquid in the system. Predetermined volume of channel (120) is adapted to contain a volume of liquid corresponding to the volume of expansion or contraction of the liquid with a temperature change that is less than the temperature change between the quiescent temperature and the operating temperature.
EFFECT: technical result is enabling sampling in systems with temperature variations in vehicles.
