SUBSTANCE: invention relates to testing transformers. Transformer testing apparatus (10) comprises terminals (31–33) provided in housing (11) for detachable connection of the transformer testing apparatus (10) to the multi-phase windings of the transformer under test (50). Device (10) also comprises a plurality of sources (21–23) integrated in housing (11), each of which is configured to generate a test signal. Device (10) further comprises switching matrix (40) connected between the plurality of sources (21–23) and terminals (31–33). Switching matrix (40) is configured to connect in series or in parallel at least two sources (21–23) from a plurality of sources (21–23) such that at least one terminal (31–33) of the plurality of terminals (31–33) receives a test signal generated by at least two sources (21–23) from a plurality of sources (21–23) connected in series or in parallel.
