SUBSTANCE: inventions relate to agriculture. This is a process for the preparation of potassium sulfate granulates, whereby a sodium salt is added to the potassium sulfate during granulation, wherein the sodium salt is selected from sodium chloride, sodium sulfate, sodium sulfate hydrate, sodium hydroxide and mixtures thereof, in an amount of 0.1 to 7.5 % by weight, based on the potassium sulfate used. Also, the potassium sulfate granulate obtained by using the above method. Said method uses sodium salts selected from sodium chloride, sodium sulfate, sodium sulfate hydrate, sodium hydroxide and mixtures thereof to improve the mechanical properties of the potassium sulfate granulate, in particular to increase the burst resistance and/or to increase the abrasion resistance. Further, the method uses glaserite as a binder in potassium sulfate granulate.

EFFECT: inventions make it possible to obtain granulates with an unchanged particle size distribution and density, which have the required good strength properties, in particular good mechanical strength, such as tensile strength and/or low abrasion.
