FIELD: heat exchange.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and system for testing the hermeticity of fuel element shells (TFE) of fuel assemblies (FA) of a water-cooled reactor. Method includes raising the FA to the bar of a reloading machine, feeding the gas medium to the shank of the FA, taking a gas sample from the above-water space in the rod, and determining the presence of radionuclides in the gas sample. When lifting the FA, the gaseous fission products from the FAs are carried out by the flow of liquid supplied through the circulation hydraulic system to the lower part of the rod, and draw a liquid from the upper part of the rod for subsequent degassing and control of the presence of radionuclides in it. System includes a liquid supply line with a reservoir, a pump and nozzles, a liquid collection line with a pump and liquid collection elements, and a gas sampling line from the hydraulic system tank. Nozzles of the liquid supply line are located in the lower part of the external section of the rod, the fluid extraction elements are located in the upper part of the outer section of the rod.

EFFECT: ensuring the maximum extraction of radionuclides from FAs with damaged fuel elements.
