ULTRASONIC DEVICE FOR CUTTING AND COAGULATING Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC A61B17/12

Abstract RU 2669023 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical equipment, namely to ultrasound surgical means for operating on tissue. Apparatus comprises a body, an ultrasonic transducer, a shaft extending distally from the body, wherein the shaft defines a longitudinal axis; and an end effector at the distal end of the shaft, comprising an ultrasonic blade in acoustic communication with the ultrasonic transducer, ultrasonic blade includes a recess region having a plurality of recesses, and extends from the proximal end to the distal end, wherein the recess region further a curved path and a tapering region, curved path of the recess region disposed distally with relative to proximal end, the tapering region of the recess region is distal to the curved path and is tapered such that the cross-sectional area of the tapering region decreases along the length of the tapering region to the distal end, recesses in the curved path comprise a first recess and a second recess, first recess has a first arcuate section defined by a first radius swept along a first plane passing through the longitudinal axis of the shaft, wherein the longitudinal axis of the shaft extends along the first plane, the second recess has a second arcuate section defined by a second radius swept along a first orthogonal plane, and the recesses in the curved path further include a third arcuate section at least partially defined by a third radius along a second plane, wherein the second plane is parallel to the first plane and the second plane is displaced from the first plane such that the longitudinal axis of the shaft does not extend along the first plane. Apparatus comprises an ultrasound surgical instrument comprising one or more features for adjusting voltage drops during operation of the surgical instrument, power source operable to generate an interrogation signal in a cycle, wherein the cycle comprises a first half-cycle and a second half-cycle, and a reference circuit in communication with the surgical instrument and the power source, wherein the reference circuit includes one or more predetermined voltage drop features configured to provide a predetermined voltage drop during operation of the surgical instrument, in which one or more voltage drop features and the reference circuit are electrically connected to the power supply in parallel, power supply is configured to read one or more predetermined voltage drop features of the reference circuit in the first half-cycle of the interrogation signal for an adjustable voltage drop of the reference circuit in the second half-cycle of the interrogation signal and is operable to subtract out a voltage drop from the one or more variable voltage drop features based on a voltage drop from the one or more predetermined voltage drop features during operation of the surgical instrument. Group of inventions also includes the surgical instrument operation method.

EFFECT: use of inventions provides a wider range of devices for operating on tissues by using ultrasound.
