FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy and can be used for the smelting of various alloys, bringing the melt to the required properties and holding it for batch casting. Furnace contains connected framework with upper and lower plates, a lined crucible, a cooled inductor with electrically insulated windings and a current lead, an external assembled core. Between the crucible and the inductor there is a cylindrical shell. Core is made in the form of a hollow cylinder. Windings of the inductor are made of a single- or multiwire stranded conductor. Shell and magnetic core are placed between the plates to form a closed, sealed annular cavity for accommodating the inductor and the coolant.
EFFECT: invention provides wider scope of use of induction smelting and crucible furnaces by reducing the energy intensity of smelting, reducing operating costs and occupied space, increasing the inductor protection and furnace operation reliability.
