SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the field of preparation of beverages containing active pharmaceutical ingredients. Cartridge with active pharmaceutical ingredients for use in an automatic needle-type beverage preparation machine comprises a base part comprising a first active pharmaceutical ingredient in the form of a powder, and a lid made of a multilayer material including an outer layer and an inner layer. Cartridge is made of a tear-resistant material characterised by a final rate of penetration of water vapour from about 2×10^-5 g per cartridge per day to approximately 2×10^-3 g per cartridge per day. Lid for a cartridge with active pharmaceutical ingredients and a cartridge with such active pharmaceutical ingredients as diphenhydramine and acetaminophen are also disclosed.
