FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a primer coating composition which can be over-coated, as well as the use of a primer composition to increase corrosion resistance in multi coat coating systems used for marine vessels or marine structures or aircrafts. Overcoatable primer coating composition comprises: i) a solvent-borne epoxy functional acrylic binder formed from glycidyl methacrylate and at least one further ethylenically unsaturated monomer, and ii) a crosslinker comprising a polyamine. Coating system comprising the overcoatable primer coating composition and a overcoated coating composition is also described.
EFFECT: technical result is the provision of a primer and coating system suitable for use in a marine vessel, marine structure or aircraft with the desired level of corrosion resistance and adhesion to subsequent coatings.
