FIELD: ventilation and air-conditioning.

SUBSTANCE: invention describes an apparatus and method for controlling the flow of air supplied to a room, as well as air conditioning in a room by means of an air treatment device, in particular the so-called chilled beam. Air treatment device for controlling air supply to a room and for air conditioning thereof includes a chilled beam connected to a supply air duct in an air treatment system, and which chilled beam comprises a pressure box with at least one inlet for inflow of supply air flow from the supply air duct and a plurality of outlets for outflow of the supply air flow out of the pressure box to a mixing chamber. Configuration of the outlets is changeable by at least one cover member which is displaceably arranged in relation to the outlets, furthermore, the chilled beam comprises at least one liquid heat exchanger, through which heat exchanger a circulation air flow is arranged to flow from the premises due via induction effect of the supply air flow out of the outlets to the mixing chamber. Mixing chamber is arranged to unite the supply air flow and the heat exchanger-conditioned, circulation air flow into a common air stream, guided to at least one outlet opening for outflow to the premises. Air treatment device comprises at least one actuator for control of the volume flow of supply air flow, and the pressure box is equipped with at least one pressure measuring socket, useful for representative control of static pressure in the pressure box, and the air treatment system comprises at least one room sensor, which is arranged to register the room conditions in the premises and communicate this to the air treatment system for control of the air treatment device. Air treatment device registers the static pressure in the pressure box and the position of the actuator and also calculates, on the basis of this data, the actual air flow in the chilled beam, and the actuator, under the given conditions, changes the configuration of the outlets by a linear motion of the cover member, by which motion the open area of the outlets is changed, in order to change supply air flow, by displacement of the cover member.

EFFECT: enabling programmed calculation of actual air flow based on the position of the actuator and the static pressure in the pressure box of the chilled beam.
